Summary

The Psychiatric Clinical Resource RN is intended to provide support and education to frontline staff in managing patients with behavioral health needs.

Position Summary

Provides clinical and educational support for the psychological care of hospitalized patients and their families for the purpose of developing clinical and practice expertise among nursing staff. Within the scope of the Psychiatric Clinical Resource Service, this position provides expert consultation and education to clinical nurses and interdisciplinary teams and supports them in planning, implementing and evaluating care for patients and families with psychological manifestations of physical and psychiatric conditions.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: Masters Degree in Nursing with Board Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing in place or within 6 months of hire. Clinical Nurse Specialist licensure preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: See "Education." Current Maine nursing license/advanced practice license.
  3. Experience: Clinical experience in an inpatient psychiatric setting. Three to five years of experience in psychiatric nursing practice. Three to five years of experience in psychiatric nursing practice.
  4. Demonstrated expertise and experience in at least two of the following roles: inpatient or outpatient psychiatry, consultation liaison, emergency service, nurse manager or case manager in the psychiatric specialty.
  5. Demonstrated skill in working collaboratively with clinical and leadership staff, building and managing intradisciplinary and interdisciplinary partnerships.
