Job Description

Summary

  • Position Summary
    • The Manager reports to the Vice President of the Women's Health Service Line and is responsible for managing all operational aspects of the inpatient Certified Nurse Midwife and Obstetrical Nocturnalist services at MMC and the women's health service line to ensure quality patient care. Collaborates with peers and also with a multidisciplinary team (Information Services, Human Resources, Central billing office, credentialing, legal, finance and others) to ensure services are functioning optimally and are in compliance with all regulatory bodies. Partners with Medical and Administrative leadership with strategic planning and business development for women's health services. Assures all program related activities are carried out successfully and in a timely manner. Acts as the liaison with all levels of staff. Directs and supervises clinical and administrative staff members.
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: Knowledge of healthcare management and process improvement. Master degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or related field required.
    • License/Certifications: Process improvement certification (Lean, Six Sigma, other) preferred but not required
    • Experience: Three to five years' related work experience. Must have healthcare and operations experience, and experience managing budgets and variance reporting.
    • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated experience with project management.
    • Excellent written and oral presentation skills; ability to write papers, reports, and proposals for a variety of audiences
    • Excellent software and computer skills, including Microsoft Office (including Power Point, Word, and Excel), database and website utilization and/or development.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
    • Ability to work both independently and to collaborate with teams of individuals, both clinical and non-clinical, in diverse settings.
    • Analytical ability to gather and interpret data in situation where the problems are complex.
    • Must work closely with the Departments of Finance, Planning, Information Technology, Human Resources, and Medical Affairs
    • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills necessary to supervise employees and to communicate and negotiate effectively with all levels of management and outside agencies
    • Ability to successfully work in a highly matrixed organization.
    • Demonstrated ability to transition multidisciplinary work groups from strategic planning to ongoing project implementation.
    • Familiar with fundamentals of clinical quality measurement and monitoring.
    • Knowledge of performance improvement tools, project management, healthcare quality measurement, current knowledge of regulatory and reporting issues in healthcare quality.
