Job Description

The Proteomics Informatics Senior Scientist will be a key member of the Discovery Mass Spectrometry Team, enabling the analysis, at scale, of highly complex datasets generated by proteomic and other omic technologies to drive biomarker discovery and reagent characterization in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment. The role will require a deep understanding of mass spectrometry-based data, especially protein- and proteomics-based data, together with advanced computational and bioinformatic skills. We are looking for a team player who is highly motivated and collaborative with strong communication skills.

What you can expect:
  • You will be an integral part of a dynamic mass spectrometry team that develops, characterizes and supports novel and robust multiomic biomarker assays.

  • You will utilize data from cutting edge instrumentation to analyze proteomic, metabolomic and lipidomic experiments across blood, urine, tissue and fecal samples.

  • You will drive development of data processing workflows for large biomarker discovery experiments, including proteogenomic and spatial omic workflows.

  • You will document code, experiments and other activities. Prepare reports and summaries. Present results and conclusions.

  • You will interface with multiple cross-functional teams to support discovery and new product development.

  • You will communicate and clearly present results to a broad audience within R&D, including IDEXX senior leadership.

What you need to succeed:
  • Degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, computer science, or a related technical field. PhD with 0-2 years of experience or MS with 0-5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong background in mass spectrometry-based omics data analysis and interpretation, such as proteomics, metabolomics, lipidomics, proteogenomics.

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R and experience with bioinformatic tools as well as tools such as git, Jupyter notebooks, Streamlit.

  • Experience working in cloud-based and mixed computing environments, including AWS, GCE, Snowflake, etc.

  • Hands-on experience with and demonstrated understanding of mass spectrometry and proteomic software tools.

  • Detail-oriented and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively, in a team environment.

  • Ability to take initiative and be accountable.

  • Demonstrated ability to critically evaluate techniques and results and implement improved practices.
