  • Position Summary
    • This is specialized clinical work, performing and assisting in mammography procedures for use in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients. Work is performed independently under general supervision and is reviewed by the Manager of Diagnostic Radiology with feedback from the Mammography Coordinator and Physician Director of Mammography, through adherence to established procedures and protocols, and by observation and discussion of results achieved.

  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: Graduate of accredited Radiologic Technology program with minimum of 2 years' experience as an RT[R], and all training requirements for MQSA and ARRT certification in Mammography. Has knowledge and experience in routine radiologic imaging.
    • License/Certification: Must have American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification, must successfully pass the ARRT advanced registration in Mammography within 1 year of being hired into this position, and possess a valid Maine License in Radiologic Technology. BLS certified
    • Experience: See "Education." Knowledge of department policies and procedures as well as familiarity with department equipment and material at a level generally acquired during one to three months on-the-job orientation and training.
    • Is able to perform routine imaging studies independently
    • Analytical ability to determine the best method of providing required images based on the patient's physical state and pathology in accordance with established protocols.
    • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with patients and peers
    • Has completed effective communication class and can have a crucial conversation with other staff and radiologists.
    • Ability to perform and/or adapt to the changes associated with different work environments and a variety of equipment.
