Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Provides the vision, strategic direction and leadership for the end-to-end revenue cycle process and capabilities that support the long term objectives, mission and vision of Crete Area Medical Center (CAMC) and Merrick Medical Center (MMC). Responsible for ensuring a good working relationship with the entity's Senior Team Leader and all components of the Service Line Agreement (SLA) for each entity. Responsible for the compliance with System Revenue Cycle Process (people, process & technology) and management of all activities including in the standardization of System approved workflows at each entity. Responsible for being the contact person for all levels of leadership at each entity for all issues related to the Revenue Cycle.

Area's of responsibility may include Scheduling, Registration, Authorizations, Managed Care Contract Compliance, Coding and Billing & Collections depending on the agreed upon SLA. In collaboration with System Revenue Cycle, ensures the charge master is accurate, compliant and used as designed, ensures charge capture audits are being performed by revenue producing department and cash posting is accurate and timely. The scope may include any physician offices' revenue cycle reporting to either entity.

In support of the System Revenue Cycle, this position will provide subject matter expertise in identifying, gaining consensus (approval) and implementing System Revenue Cycle initiatives. Recommends to the System Revenue Cycle

The utilization of industry best practices/standards, process standardization, metric/dashboard development & measurement and a common and scalable technology platform to leverage and build from. *This position will rotate between our Critical Access Hospitals.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2. *Provides overall vision and direction as well as developing goals for the revenue cycle team and each entity.

3. *Collaborates with the entity's Senior Team Leader in a matrixed environment per the entities specific SLA.

4. *Meets all requirements of the SLA, working in connection with System Revenue Cycle and each entities' Senior Team Leader.

5. *In collaboration with the System Team Leader, ensures that the overall revenue cycle strategy aligns with and supports the entities business objectives and also aligns with the System Revenue Cycle objectives.

6. *In collaboration with the System Team Leader, develops (and implements) strategic & operational goals and corresponding plans for each entity's revenue cycle that addresses financial performance, customer experience/service, I/T, human resources and regulatory/compliance requirements.

7. *In collaboration with the System Team Leader, develops a high performing revenue cycle team at each entity as measured through benchmarking, audit and compliance results, financial goals and employee satisfaction.

8. *In collaboration with the System Team Leader, hires, trains, supervises, counsels and evaluates direct report employees; conducts and submits annual performance appraisals; recommends/authorizes pay adjustments as appropriate.

9. *In collaboration with the System Team Leader, raises concerns involving changing conditions in the areas of assigned responsibilities. Carries out other responsibilities and projects as requested.

10. As a valuable member of the System Revenue Cycle and Finance Team, develops working relationships with other team members and assists them as team needs dictate.

11. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

12. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.

13. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Knowledge of ongoing health care trends, health care legislation and regulatory standards.

2. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.

3. Demonstrated track record of leadership and strong knowledge in revenue cycle operations and industry best practices.

4. Demonstrated experience/expertise in managing multiple, complex mid-scale revenue cycles. Also ability to manage multiple concurrent projects (e.g. revenue cycle consolidation and/or system implementation) in a matrixed organization and expertise in developing complex systems and performance based reporting.

5. Demonstrated experience in analytics and the establishment of metrics, outcomes and service level agreements.

6. Advanced knowledge and experience with current revenue cycle and EMR tools and technology.

7. Strong management skills and technical expertise as demonstrated by superior planning, decision-making, negotiation, leadership and financial management skills/knowledge, with a focus on adding value to the bottom line of the business.

8. Ability to make operational and management decisions in response to changing conditions and in emergencies while maintining System consistency.

9. Ability to communicate effectively, at all levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing.

10. Ability to schedule, direct, counsel and evaluate employee work and performance.

11. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel, medical staff, voluntary and ancillary departments.

12. Ability to perform crucial conversations with desired outcomes.

14. Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in health administration, business administration, finance or related field required. Master's degree in business administration (MBA), health administration, or professional designation such as CMA is preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible leadership experience in revenue cycle preferably within a critical access health care environment is required; experience in a multi-facility leadership structure and EPIC is preferred.
