Job Description

Come join our dynamic team in Lewiston serving refugees! Catholic Charities Maine Refugee and Immigration Services in Lewiston has a full-time opening for a Medical Screening Coordinator.

Definition: The Medical Screening Coordinator coordinates the domestic refugee medical screening services for assigned clients, including refugees and other ORR-eligible populations. They schedule medical screening appointments, ensure that clients understand & attend appointments, transport clients to appointments, teach clients how to access MaineCare reimbursed transportation systems to travel to future appointments, refer to needed specialists, and schedule any needed follow up appointments. They help clients better understand the US healthcare system and help them navigate their ongoing healthcare independently. They help clients access culturally appropriate wellness programming. They provide culturally & linguistically appropriate services to help clients live full, healthy lives in their new community. They help facilitate patient and provider engagement and address barriers contributing to poorer health outcomes among underserved communities.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent life experience. Education outside of the US is considered.
  • Minimum three (3) years work experience in a health-related field.
  • Multilingual skills (Arabic, Kinyarwanda, French, Swahili, Somali, Lingala, Portuguese, Ukrainian, and Haitian Creole) and experience working with immigrants is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the US healthcare system and local community resources is also preferred.

Salary: $45,000 annually. Actual salary may be higher or lower depending on experience and qualifications.
