Overview

The Data Center Engineer position is responsible for analyzing and defining the business and technical requirements of Datacenter solutions. This position will utilize design and solution experience with Data Center Products and be responsible for creating Bills of Material (BOMs), Levels of Effort (LOEs) and Scopes of Work (SOWs) for ConvergeOne customers and prospects; and for working with the Data Center Architects, Solutions Architects, National Account Managers, Inside Sales Representatives and others within the organization to construct, develop and present technical solutions that meet the customer's technical and business requirements.

Additionally, the Data Center Engineer position may be called upon to conduct demos, maintain and/or develop the Solution center, develop technical and business presentations, conduct Data Center assessments, and provide trainings to ConvergeOne team members.

Responsibilities

    Works with customers and other Data Center Solutions architects in planning and designing highly successful Data Center environments
  • Works with customers to align technology to their business opportunities and needs in context of their Data Center strategy
  • Assists in delivering consulting engagements, working with distributed sales teams along with deployment team members
  • Demonstrates command of the Data Center technologies and other ecosystem solutions
  • Masters a deep technical knowledge and possesses the communication skills and organizational agility to guide customers through Data Center integration projects and must also be able to perform the hands-on technical solution design work on his/her own
  • Identifies solution system interfaces, constraints, scope, cost, risks and value
  • Utilizes knowledge of architectural design and documentation
  • Creates, reviews, or evaluates technical bills of material
  • Creates, reviews, or evaluates solution quotes
  • Creates, reviews, or evaluates technical Scopes of Work
  • Creates, reviews, or evaluates technical Levels of Effort
  • Stays up to date with Data Center technologies (compute, storage, Data Ccenter switching and Virtualization)
  • Stays up to date with Data Center manufacturers programs and promotions

Additional Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Travels to customer locations, conferences, meetings and events as needed
Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science, Architecting, or related experience
  • Technical solution design experience is a plus
  • Solid Experience in Data Center technologies is required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in IT, systems administration, engineering and/or architecture
  • Data Center technologies or IT related certifications is a plus (CCNA, CCNP, VCP, MCSE, etc.)
  • Customer facing / presentation skills
  • Documentation skills - ability to deliver high-level design documentation
  • Excellent verbal / written communication skills
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed for critical functions
  • Ability to document business, information, application and technology aspects of approach
