The Training and Development Educator for Maine Behavioral Healthcare assists in the planning, coordination and implementation of education, training and orientation programs for employees and students. The position falls under the purview of MBH Training and Development, with its primary location being in Scarborough. However, it may occasionally entail duties at Spring Harbor Hospital in Westbrook, Maine.

What you will do:

  • Provide a flexible education/training schedule to meet the needs of all shifts
  • Create, publish and assign courses in the on-line learning management system (i.e. HealthStream) as directed
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other employees to meet specific goals of education and training activities

Responsibilities

  • Maintain collaborative relationships with clinical, administrative and support services to deliver education, training and orientation
  • Assume teaching responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to, CPR, Restraint Skills Lab and Safety-Care ™, incorporating adult learning principles as indicated
  • Maintain expertise and certification in the content of the teaching assignment through ongoing education and certification when required

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) – “What you will need”:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent referred.
  • License/Certifications: Safety – Care ™ Instructor Certification and BLS Healthcare Provider CPR Instructor certification or successful certification within the first 30 days of hire.
  • Experience: 2+ years of employment in the field of mental health working directly with clients/patients. Experience teaching adult learners preferred.
